del Paisatge en el marc de la nova política de paisatge de Catalunya The Landscape Observatory vis-à-vis Catalonia’s new landscape policy Although Catalonia enjoys a great wealth and diversity of landscapes, these resources have unfortunately been subjected to an alarming array of threats and dangers. However, the overall panorama of Catalonia is changing in a positive manner due to the approval of government Act 8/2005, which not only provides for land protection and management, but which also effected creation of the Landscape Observatory of Catalonia. The latter serves in an advisory capacity to the Catalan government and to Catalan society in general in matters related to land management. The main work of the Observatory consists of preparing the Landscape Catalogues of Catalonia, which are technical documents used for land management and planning. These landscape catalogues define strategic lines and specific directives, which help improve not only the quality of the land itself, but also the quality of life enjoyed by the people of Catalonia. |
